More Than 32,000 Thai Passengers Cross the Mohan Port
On the morning of March 1, the Mohan Road Port in Yunnan was bustling with activity. A Chinese minibus with stickers of the flags of China, Laos and Thailand on the windshield was already parked outside the designated area, while groups of Thai travelers eagerly took photos with the port's joint inspection building.
On March 1, 2024, the agreement for mutual visa exemption for ordinary passport holders between China and Thailand officially took effect. Since the agreement was implemented, the Mohan border inspection station has processed more than 32,000 Thai passengers. Among the third-country nationals entering and exiting, over 60% were Thai citizens, making Mohan Port the largest national-level land border port for Thai citizens entering China's Yunnan Province.
To effectively manage border inspection work, the Mohan border inspection station has addressed the fact that most Thai travelers enter and exit in groups and at peak times. Measures have been introduced, including a dedicated passage for group travelers, the addition of Thai-speaking inspectors and guides, the launch of an online system for group travel declarations, the implementation of real-time notifications for port traffic, categorized passenger flow and "tide window" services. These efforts have ensured efficient and smooth clearance at the port.
